Movies
recently i have discovered some real gem from the series movie Scrub. Scrub is an American medical comedy television series that was aired more than ten years ago. And damnnnnn, they do have some great soundtracks.
one of the really good band is Dashboard Confessional. I'm particularly hooked on the song Stolen.
they also have ubiquitous songs like Lifehouse- You and Me. But yeah, sometimes its good to watch these tv series that are old but gold. I heard it's better that Grey Anatomy. But basically, i'm just really into the whole Scrubs soundtrack.
Another tv series that i'm fond of is Downton Abbey. It's a period british drama. It's really different from soap operas or hong kong movies. It's slow-paced but really thought provoking. One thing i can be sure, british movies gives more recognition to the emotions of the protagonist, rather than giving out blockbusters movies. It's something you need to spend more time to comprehend. Give credits to John Lunn for his talent in composing soothing and evocative music. Btw they have 5 seasons so good luck if you plan to watch all of them. It's a good piece of work by Julian Fellowes, i was surprised as he is also a House Of Lord member, It essentially portrays different social classes of people which can be classified into nobility, middle and servants.
talking about classic british films, you can't miss out Catherine Cookson. Thumbs up for BBC adapting the films and i have watched all of them. Fifteen Streets, Black Velvet gown, rag nymph, tilly trotter. I'm telling you this, they are so good. Catherine was an illegitimate child, she grew up thinking that her mother was her sister. I mean, you gotta be at least 20 years of age gap but when you grew up with 0 information regarding who your parents are, well, that's a sad childhood. hence most of the setting of her novels are rather run down, depicting lower class life that is full of struggle. Catherine, like any other girls, have a dreamy romantic imagination too. She married Tom Cookson but once again, plague striked her. She suffer 4 miscarriages because of a rare vascular disease. So, she spends her time writing, soothing her pain. Sometimes you gotta go through difficult times to produce top-notch masterpieces.
So, im still new to all these films but at least i have found my passion in literary and art, and i think that my soul would thank me for that. for the last post, i have mentioned about Lana Del Rey, in Brooklyn Baby she mentioned about Lou Reed. When i heard that i didn't take interest in him. Later on, i discovered that Lou Reed is so good in poetry. that brings solace to him, listening to him reciting his songs. Go listen to Tranquilize, it's a collab between the killers and Lou reed. Not as famous as Sweet Jane, but i really like the lyrics.
I was just sipping on something sweet
I don't need political process.
this is typical melancholic lou reed
cause i don't care where you've been
and i don't care what you've seen
we are the one who still believe
and we're looking for a page
in a lifeless book of hope.
i mean, listening to it just makes me feel sad, i gotta admit Lou Reed has a real talent, maybe talented people are always sad. There is no voice in rock like Reed's. So basically Tranquilize is a combination of Mr.Brightside and Perfect day.
ok this post is like a combination of movies and music i would like to share. so yeah im off listening to Bones.
